This novel was great! Such resilience after such a horrendous ordeal with the Nazi Regime. It lets you know how and why Israel was created in 1948. The thousands of displaced Jews came there with nothing but were able to fight off the Arab nations that surrounded them with hand made weapon, creativity and pure GRIT! I am not Jewish but was very impressed by this book. It was very factual in history of the region known now as Israel Anyone that says otherwise is obviously biased and probably denies the entire Holocaust even though there are pictures and movie films of the atrocities proving the facts. There are also factual accounts of the condition of the land that is now Israel.
