I want to like it because it’s directed beautifully, and Mia Goth is absolutely amazing in it….
But it’s just not that good. I enjoy it when Mia’s on screen, otherwise I’m bored or disturbed (and not in a good or entertaining way like other films). I find it so funny that the review Mia Goth’s character reads of James’s book is applicable to this film and Brandon Cronengerg’s talent. Essentially it says that James has no real talent, his book was only published because of his father in-law (in Brandon’s case the film only exists because of his father), he attempts to disguise his lack of talent with pretension, and he has nothing to say and yet lacks to words to say it. Yeah. That’s my review of this film in a nutshell. Brandon almost a vision and almost executed it. The idea of the film is astronomically more interesting and appealing than the film itself. The film, much like James’s book, seems to marvel at itself despite being lackluster.
If you want to see Mia Goth act her butt off, watch Infinity Pool.
If you want to be entertained, watch Infinity Pool.
If you want to see a good movie, avoid Infinity Pool at all costs.
