I see a lot of hate in how much change was made into the movie, but I think we should admire the fact that we got something different for a change. I think I would’ve been more bored if everything was as it was, such as Eric’s personality, It was really lacking in the original film and we saw him as nothing more but Ariel’s crush, and I admired that the live action gave us more to him. Eric was given more life and felt more personalized to Ariel's interests. Although I disliked the scuttle character in many ways, instead of a humorous approach that id get from the original, id get a sense of annoyance anytime the character would appear. But besides that, there's not much Id complain about, I will say though, the movie felt a bit lazy with the wardrobe to the scenes. Ariel wore nothing but a simple blue dress throughout her entire human form, while I was expecting her iconic pink dress. I think that they could've given us more astonishing scenes that the original captured, that the live action failed to give, such as Ariel's sparkling dress as well. Other than that though, I really enjoyed how Halle captured the essence of Ariel, I know she might not be the best representation to the original, but I thought she definitely played her curious personality well throughout the film.
