I was a Staff scientist at Los Alamos from 1976 through 2001. My wife and I were married on the very stage that Oppenheimer stood on to deliver his post test comments to the residents of Los Alamos. It is hard, given the horrible tolls of the wars with Germany and Japan, to underestimate the unbridled euphoria of that test. At that time and in those circumstances it is simply unimaginable that those weapons would not be used against Japan to end the war. This movie shows literally nothing of that ongoing war. This movie is about the war within the heart and soul of Oppenheimer. It is the story of the conscience of a Scientist who is well aware of the potential of the weapon he is shepparding to completion. It is a very well done presentation.
