My husband and I absolutely loved the story, and thought the acting was top notch. If you look at 2018 and Kills as the same film, this is the sequel.
Haddonfield created Cory, just like his mother told Laurie. His story was a tragedy that echoed the town’s. Laurie broke the cycle, just like she broke her own, as did Allison, choosing to finally leave.
It was more layered and nuanced than you usually get from horror, and refreshing to see actors who really understood their characters. To me, was to us exactly what Scream 5 referred to as elevated horror.
The score, camera angles, colors, Easter eggs and call-backs in most scenes, and continuity with the side characters all made us love it even more.
