Honestly, it's not ground-breaking cinema but I think it was well done and it's important. I'd suggest it for parents raising kids in the age of social media. It's opened up communication on the subject. I hope more film makers who are less divisive will take a chance on breaching this topic as it has been a but of a social phenomenon.
It's a hot button topic but it needs further research and understanding. The media seemingly only speaks out for one side of the issue but it appears that the science is hardly settled and there are medical professionals and detransitioners who disagree with the current message of trans-mania.
It definitely has a bias, but does hear from experts on each side of the argument, and anyone who knows anything about Matt Walsh is aware of his stance on the issue. While there are some intentionally comedic moments, and more than a hint of condescension, I don't think the movie was hateful. It's certainly not hate speech to ask expert opinions.
I think the film makers and experts who oppose gender-affirming medicalization of children have a great deal of concern and compassion for young kids grappling with their identities. They presented very clear and sensible suggestions for why this may be occurring at such unprecedented rates and where the influence may be coming from.
I would really like to see more moderates and liberals who have qualms with this speak up on the subject. We certainly need to hear more from doctors, scientists and experts on the other side of this, who are rarely given a platform to speak up.
More than anyone, I'd like to hear from detransitioners themselves. More and more are speaking out, despite attacks from the community that once claimed them, and I expect we will see many more in the near future as this trend takes hold. Hopefully more parents start to pay attention and pull their kids bad from the ledge before its too late.
