I’m on book 5 and Season 2:2 of the Series. I feel like it’s incredibly rushed. The books are complex with a lot of symbolism and historical detail. Unfortunately they dumbed it down and sanitized the crap out of it. I’m kinda meh about casting the kid who plays Marcus is too damn green, Ysabeau, Marthe and Francoise are too old, (especially when a teenage Marcus found her and the housekeeper Francoise both sexually attractive) Baldwin is background noise he isn’t very distinctive and Miriam isn’t threatening enough. Mathew’s London crew are so far forgettable. Where is Annie? She showed up before Jack. I feel like we’re skipping the unrequited tension in their relationship as well. What about the Birth Control Tea? The special effects aren’t “magical enough”. The details aren’t there, the lore isn’t there. The show is gorgeous and Mathew ain’t that bad.

I’ve always been in awe of cirque du soleil’s performances. I bought a copy of worlds away to show my little boy. Some of the scenes seemed too scary and others were perfect. He really liked the trampoline act. My main gripe about this is the storyline and continuity. It would have been nice if the Beatles theme covered the entirety of the journey. Most of the scenes felt like a nonsensical fever dream.
