Wow, I, as almost everyone else, expected this film to be MUCH better. while there is some upsides to it, the ENTIRETY of the film was a painstaking rant about the patriarchy and the matriarchy.. much of the film was shrouded by jokes that did not land, and the jokes that did, mostly came from Ryan Gosling, which i will say, the prefomances of both margot robbie and ryan gosling where COMMENDABLE, i cannot say the same for the others, except michael cena, which too, was funny. which brings me to my point, their casting was mediocre, they chose some GREAT actors like: Helen mirren for the narrator, then will ferrel as the ceo of mattel, then the bad choices, like the OVERWHELMING actors that were... well, aswell mediocre. john cena KILLED it, and anne hathaways was perfect, enough with the compliments. the characters were. BAD. exept for the main kenny ryan gosling. the others were so... and i hate to say this word. woke. the story of barbie is directed for 56 year old women who are overobsessive of barbie. but the movie seem to be advertisting this for children, which is not true, this film is VERY mature.
[SPOILERS]
The story is basically about Barbie's perfect life begins to fall apart after she gets into the real world and begins to understand the meaning of her existence by the help of an overly obnoxious mother and daughter duo. the film is basically a documentary about how much the patriarchy is trash and the matriarchy is better. and that democracy is le bad. the film shines a bad light on men, feminising the entire squad of kens to make the barbies seem more.... well. "masculine".
the entire story makes. me. sad. because greta gerwigs other works are so much better then this. this ENTIRE movie is your political cookie cutter trash, but i cant say its a cash grab, because i can tell the peopl who were working on the sets, clothing, AND even the damn actors put so much love into this, just for greta gerwig and her gang of overly political writers ruined the movie. I WISH, and i wish that the studio behind this replaced the director and the writers, because this film was on my mind when the leaks of the film got out.
If you want something much better to clear your mind of this disaster, go watch oppenheimer. a much better movie with much more love put in by the director. (dont believe the cesspool of paid review outlets and youtubers saying this film was good, the only defining features that made it stand was first, the cast, seconds the very rare jokes that were great, which were mostly delivered by ryan gosling, michael cena. and will ferrel. and third the overwhelming amount of pure and genuine love put into it by the people behind the sets and suits)
