Well I watched "Sufiyum Sujathayum" because I was so entranced with the trailer and music... I must say... it could have been far far better... Its true that Miss Hydari is too beautiful but her Sujatha sticks out like a sore thumb... In the movie Sujatha is a mute girl who captured the heart of a Sufi.. & unfortunately I felt nothing from Sujatha which could shake the saintliness of a sufi.. so he may forgo his calling.
I must say that portrayal of Sufi was really good even if it has nothing to do with the real sufis ... I loved his performance especially the foot work... his eyes... and those Azans are too enchanting..... Music is brilliant.. For a first timer he has just nailed it .... I think from now on for mallus he will be our "Official Sufi". Had it Bench marked.
Jayasurya once again proves why he is a master in mollywood... Flawless.. He feels real..
Story is too under developed.. I think the term eternal love is not something about getting closure... Sujatha is just doing that... If Sujatha's love for Sufi ends with his death what's eternal about it ???? She gets the much needed closure in the end and starts fresh with her husband... Was it even love or just an admiration for his talents???? There is really no depth there... It feels like guilty conscience more than eternal love... This movie cannot give the feelings we got from " Ennu Ninte Moideen" which in reality portrays eternal love.. everlasting feelings .... But I really do wish I had watched it in a multiplex rather than a laptop screen...
Overall... a one time watch movie with superb soulful music....
