I found the story to be weak and lacking authenticity. Kinda the opposite of what it feels like it's striving for. A seemingly unprovoked native attack on a bunch of happy go lucky settlers? I ain't buying it. There were flashes of inspired acting, but performances also starved for better story and dialogue. Attempts to showcase the brutality of the western frontier mostly came off feeling grotesque. I'm a fan of DWW and really wanted to like this. It just ain't right.
