I loved this book! Initially, the beautiful cover caught my eye, and when I read the back cover, it sounded interesting. I did not realize how much I would enjoy it! The last chapter left me in tears, and was so beautifully written. I kept visualizing this book as a TV miniseries. I do hope this author is working on another book!

Another fun Nantucket beach read! The Chamber of Commerce should pay Elin Hilderbrand for the publicity she brings the island - though I could not afford one night there! Did get a little irritated with the pretentious names of some of her characters - Allegra, Avalon, Sterling, Woodlyn, Celadon(!!), and Gryphon (yes, spelled like the mythical winged creature rather than Griffin!). Overall, though, another engaging Hilderbrand book that was hard to put down!

Author also mentions Gus is a partner in a law firm, as well as being an excellent lawyer, yet his house is described as needing a lot of work. You would think a partner in a law firm could afford to fix up his house.

Gave this book a try because it won the Pulitzer, but I could not follow it, did not care for the characters, and found all the economic information incomprehensible and boring. I stuck with it until the end, but could not understand how it won the Pulitzer. Maybe too high-brow for me? I recommend the other Pulitzer winner last year instead. Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperhead is one of the best books I have read in a long time.
