It’s very apparent that the writers are on strike but not the 3D animators. The entire movie looked CGI and soulless. Wonka has 0 personality at all, the only thing we know about him is he’s got a dead mom. That’s literally it. They completely forgot to mention or describe how he stole the cacao beans. That alone could have made for a more interesting movie than this. It would have been so much better if they made Wonka a villain or slave master of the oompah or something interesting. Instead he’s a very generic character. It’s an extreme downgrade from the original.
