It ends with us gave me a lot of emotional chills, I was so invested in the book that I could literally feel almost every emotion shared. Honestly I wished the book didn’t end.
Indeed those we love the most are the ones that also hurt us the most.
I really give it up for Lily for choosing to carve out another path for herself and not follow that of her mother.
For choosing not to remain with her abusive husband no matter how much she loved him and how much it was going to hurt her.
Most times we stay hurting in an abusive relationship because we make up excuses for the abuser. Telling ourselves that maybe if we act a kind of way the person would change, but in that process we find ourselves still in that relationship for years and then it becomes difficult to leave because we feel, oh! well, I’ve invested 10yrs or 15... into this, why leave now?
One might say you don’t know how difficult it is to leave until you’ve experienced it, Just like Lily.
But I’d say you don’t have to experience it before you make a decision. You learn from other people’s experience and decide never to let that happen to you.
It ended with Lily, growing up with an abusive father she made sure her daughter doesn’t have to go through the same trauma she went through.
I love love this book Colleen and it’s a 5⭐️ Rating from me.
