Jemima was too nice and pandered too much to the conservative element. Hundreds of thousands of Pakistani women openly have pre-marital sex and meet foreign boyfriends all over Pakistan for a quick romp. Pakistani women do not live in a bubble, especially in the cities, where most Pakistani women wear Garter belts, Victoria's Secret lingerie, thongs and g strings under their clothes. Most are aware of the rumours of well-endowed foreign men that can drive them to easy orgasmic bliss, etc.
Sajjal Ally is fantastic, Lily James is incredible, and Emma Thompson is excellent. Please don't listen to the 1% of religious fanatics who hate this movie and are overrepresented in the comment section because they are always loud and over-aggressive. Listen to the quiet majority of people of all races and religions who love this movie.
I thought this movie was an excellent, faithful representation of Pakistani culture. If you are a Muslim extremist and you are angry at this movie, then you missed the point. This movie is about Pakistani culture, and since 20 Million Pakistanis are non-Muslim, it was not a movie to highlight Islam or Muslims. It was meant to highlight Pakistanis, whatever their religion. The main cast just happened to be Muslim.
Also, the Islamic extremists who hate this movie are not even Pakistani; they are British Born Islamic fundamentalists who spent their entire lives in Saudi Funded Islamic extremist mosques that preach Saudi Arabian culture as Islam; many of these fanatics follow Saudi culture, which they have been taught is Islam. Also, wearing a Niqab or Burka doesn't make anyone an angel. In the poorest, most backward part of Pakistan, The tribal areas, where burkas and Niqabs are most prevalent, many Niqabis are caught in all kinds of criminal activity, from sex crimes to theft, and many lead promiscuous lifestyles. It is a superstitious, uncivilized mind that believes wearing an extra cloth over your head miraculously transforms you into an angel.
