Three out of five for a film that was half good half bad.
The first hour was a poor attempt at character building and telling a story that I'd rather have seen on screen with the dates as headings to chapters. By doing this it would have been more entertaining rather than a hard choice weather to turn it off or stick with it.
If you stick with it it becomes a hard, fast paced watch for 40 minutes as they pack as much into that time as possible. Whilst the first hour is really hard to understand what is actually going on. The director could have told the story of the murder's in detail from the beginning without giving the ending away and leaving out the key characters. This would have led to more mysticism than the utter confusion you're left with.
Nicholas Cage as always a great actor and from what he did with the character I can only assume he was being his fun self and then acting the horror part. Over all it's another film he's produced himself and left himself short again by it being an average film.
Overall it could have been so much better for the full one hour forty minutes run time and no doubt would have been a box office hit especially with the Rosemary's baby vibe it gave.
