Full disclosure - I'm pro-life.
That said, I don't let my political beliefs get too much in the way of enjoying a film. Even if I don't agree with the characters' beliefs, good writing, acting and human emotion are the main ingredients I seek. I just want to be entertained by a good story. I'm not really offended that others hold beliefs that differ from my own.
Being that I'm a huge fan of Julia Garner and have liked Lily Tomlin for as long as I can remember, I was hopeful about this movie. Unfortunately, this flick was a flop. The characters were cardboard. The script was plodding. Every liberal was angry and every conservative was painted in a cartoonish light.
I can only assume those who loved the movie did so because it so slavishly played to their political ideology. That it was ever nominated for any kind of award must be attributable to the extremist ideology of Hollywood.
If you're a big Lefty and love to watch angry people misbehave, you'll probably love this one. For the rest, I sincerely wish I could have back the time I wasted on this one.
