I started reading John Fowles books at a relatively young age. Starting with, The Collector. I always had a respect for his stance on women, as he seemed to always be batting for women and understanding the vulnerability of women over history, due to the all power men had and still have. This movie tries to show this too, but unfortunately I feel it really let's the book down, as did the movie version of, The Collector. Just read the books. Plus Fowles incredible accuracy of location in words is quite amazing. I remember reading the book to this movie and his description of Lyme Regis was so clear that when I actually went there having never seen it before, it was just as Fowles had planted it in my imagination.
