While the actress did a fine job in the role, it was not a good choice. Cleopatra is one of the most famous people from Egyptian history. This means accuracy is important. Portraying a countries history and culture is extremely disrespectful. It is no surprise Netflix were getting sued for this. There are many people of colour to make documentaries about, especially lesser known individuals who it would be good to bring into the public consciousness. Instead, they tried to rewrite another countries history and deny Egyptians some representation in media. It is still not the worst thing Netflix has made, but the backlash is still very much deserved.
