Before I begin you need to know this is NOT a scooby doo show or even an origin story for Velma as this show has NOTHING to do with the original characters! It's only connection is in name only, otherwise it is it's own thing.
Animation: 4/5
The animation is actually charming and probably the highlight of this show, it's well lit, and vibrant. Movement is fluid, and everything animates and moves flowingly.
Writing: 1/5
Ok, the writing is bad like everyone has said and it's not great... Few decent jokes here and there but overall not impressed with the first few episodes.
Characters: 2/5
This is not scooby doo and I repeat this is not scooby doo and friends! They share the same name but act completely differently from their original counterparts. But otherwise they're presented as average and modern teenagers, which sadly is a pretty accurate.
I also want to point out that yes Velma, shaggy, and Daphne were all culture swapped from different nationalities. Velma's an indian, Daphne is asian, and Shaggy is african. Funny how Fred remains white, but all of these characters are completely changed from their original.
Overall I'd say it's decent if you remove all thought that this is a scooby doo show and think of it as it's own thing which it is as this was probably changed last second to just get picked up.
Scooby was likely 4-5 years old during the original show from '69 so shaggy would have gotten him a year or 2 after this show takes place.
Sadly gotta give this a 2/5, it's meh and if they want to undo all of this they could easily just use the "dream" tactic where Velma just wakes up and says that was an awful dream and continue with an actual scooby doo show.
