Absolutely atrocious. No plot, no message, weird filming techniques. I was expecting an emotionally complex, thought-provoking film which would at least make me well up. At a couple of points in the film, you are watching a blank screen for a lengthy period of time whilst 'atmospheric' music plays. I have no idea how it has been nominated for an Oscar. I hope to God it does not get one - we do not need more drivel like this. I barely ever write reviews, but I actually felt angry that I had wasted 1h 45m of my time watching this film. The only positive is that it is in German, so if you are trying to learn German (I am), it can at least constitute as language practice. I would not recommend this, not even to someone I dislike.
