Seen this movie twice now. Once in 2015 and another just this week. Wagner Moura, in my limited knowledge of Brazilian cinema, is perhaps the one of the top male actors their cinema has produced. In Futuro Beach, he embodies the character of Donato with deep anguish and melancholy. The twinkle in his eyes when he smiles always belies the deep unhappiness his heart harbors. In Donato, Wagner Moura, tapped the raw emotion only real actors can access. His performance is one of the reasons this film leaves a memorable impression after. The volatile love story between two men is paralleled by an equally volatile relationship between two brothers, and Wagner, as Donato, exquisitely brought that conflict to life.
