This was AWFUL and sooo disappointing. The movie was confused to say the least. Is it a cheesy rom-com or is it a depressed melodramatic take on growing up, tragedy and becoming a beauty lotion voice over???? There’s so much to say at how dissatisfying the ending was. *SPOILER ALERT* Why sell the viewer on a cheesy rom com until the last 10 minutes? Never explained the 15 years of unexplained silence from him (did he fall in a volano? How did the best friend guy not know and tell her about it since they are sitll hanging out? Was there no mail in New Zealand by which the mom could inform the dad and neighbors about the loss of her son? So strange!!). Also, like how did she go from aspiring broadcaster to voice over for beauty lotion? What happened to the BFFs? First the gut wrenching sobbing at being parted on the train (why didn’t he just stay?) and then he dies with no explanation after a year of emailing? I’m kinda annoyed I spent 2 hours on this. It was a bit traumatizing at the end thinking I’d get that final kiss and instead a tragic death and so many questions.
