Cold River. Cold care. Agree with Cynthia Sims. What’s happened to characters with spice?
Three glamorous sisters and hardly developed.I agree, too, the writing is dull and laboured.
Commits the basic writing crime of tell, tell, tell and not show, show, show! So much talking, talking and more talking. Everything unfolds by endless verbal explaining instead of camera, location and action.
As if the books have been transcribed and lifted into a heavy script. And played out on a two-set stage with so much still of “ma’am So and has called and...” entries.
Thank goodness Ann Cleeves has written solid plots.
Sadly could not care about any of the characters. And mourn the passing of Vera angrily driving in cloudy landscapes!
