I'm giving this 3 starts because in terms of a film - the editing, the storyline, the videography - they did a 5 star job. Disappointing that they decided, however, to use their skills to do the very thing they are complaining happened to them - they are presenting one side. Too bad they didn't use their talents and resources to dive into both sides equally. There are valid arguments and complaints on both the Palestinian and Israeli side of the conflict, and they could have used this as an opportunity to build bridges and create an opening for peace in the region rather than yet another propaganda tool, but this time to paint Israelis as heartless terrorists.
No mention of the Arab riots leading up to the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 - just the Arabs who were displaced. No mention of the 2 million plus Arab citizens of Israel who have full rights, just the issues in the West Bank and Gaza strip. No mention of the wars that the neighbouring Arab countries on Israel - 1958, 1967, 1973, 2 intifadas and now, 2023. To portray the 1967 as though Israel purposefully went to war against Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt in order to expand it's landmass to encompass the Palestinians who had been basically 'trapped' in Jordan and Egypt (because those countries did not give the Palestinian people autonomy when they controlled all that territory between 1948 - 1967) is bad journalism at best and dangerous propaganda at worse.
I'm certain that most of the 'progressives' who want to feel that they are doing 'right' will watch this film and fall in love with the beautiful and bright Samantha and all of her one sided ideas. And it pains me. Because they, and therefore we, have missed a golden opportunity to become closer to peace but instead they've fuelled the flames of hatred towards Israel and Jews.
