This album hits raw following Taylor Hawkins death. Whilst tonally, this album fits with the pleasing aesthetic of previous albums like Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, The Colour & The Shape, Wasting Light & Concrete & Gold; the lyrics cut like a knife into the soul and is clearly a reflection of the pain the band are feeling for the loss of Taylor.
Track: The Glass
Lyrics:
"I had a person I loved, and just like that, I was left to live without him, left to live without him, waiting for the storm to pass".
More of the songs stick in my head this time round, maybe it's because I feel the sadness for the missing drummer, the melodic kickass tunes take me back to my favourite album The Colour & The Shape.
I can definitely say I've listened to this album more than others in recent years.
I would highly recommend this to any Foo's newcomer and definitely should be entered into the hall of fame along with their earlier albums.
