The first season almost tries TOO hard to get the hooks in...especially with Monica (seriously, homegirl is jinxed or something), but season 2 drops the lead foot down on the accelerator and doesn't stop...and what a f**king awesome ride it is.
This show highlights the irony of "progression" vs "conservatism", and in the middle is a way of life that, while clinging to old-school values, is trying to navigate into the 21st century, without any clear-cut solutions or definitions. Set against the backdrop of the American West, it tells the history of the conquered vs the vanquished...a tale as old as humanity. The cast, acting, and directing is superb. Is it a tad melodramatic? Maybe...but so so compelling
