Shy One

I’m a big movie buff and can be harsh when it comes to critiquing movies so take my review with a grain of salt. They should’ve just called this movie “A Musical Based On the Original Film.” Yes I knew it was supposed to be a musical and that’s not what bothered me. What bothered me was the dialogue was the exact same as the original except the actors didn’t do it justice. Mister did not hit like the original Mister & Celie definitely did not hit like the Original Celie. The scenes moved WAY too quick and there was no character development. You hardly even felt how deep Nettie & Celie’s bond was like in the original and you could hardly tell Suge Avery & her dad had any problems. It was just too quick for me & had little to no emotion. I also didn’t feel like I was back in the early 1900s. I feel like production could’ve done more to give it that early 1900s feel. I will say however, that the cinematography was top notch as far as colors.
