This series really went downhill after book 1. The characters are unbelievable and not interesting. Misogyny and outdated gender roles seem to define the author's worldview and thus characters are rigidly defined (and described) by their masculinity or femininity. The dark forest concept and some of the larger plot developments are interesting, but the individual characters and hokey plot devices ruin it for me.

Interesting premise but the writing is bad. Really cheesy subplots and characters ruin the story. The frequent crying gets old fast. Also, the first scene of the show negates any tension in the series by giving away the ending. Why start with the end and make the entire series a flashback?
