Two words sum up the film: Long, disappointing.
Starts OK with traditional brilliant Spielberg camera work but fails to develop into an engaging story. The third act of High School bullies and 'jocks' is especially weak and painfully drawn-out. If you enjoy the 'Grease' style of casting late 20somethings as teenagers this may be for you, but even then you'll be looking at your watch wondering if/when it is going to end. Dreary script/non-script, peculiar make-up (nobody gets any older) ; a beautiful score from John Williams and nice Mad Men 50s set dressing are the film's better points, but don't save this curiously unengaging vanity project.
