Disappointing. First off, neither Ruth Negga nor Tessa Thompson could ever pass for white. Secondly, it gets very confusing. Your constantly wondering what the characters are talking about. Or what exactly is going on between certain characters. Or why they feel the way they do about certain issues. Third, it's like it doesn't know what it wants to be. A film about race, sexuality, marriage? A waste of competent actors. Muddled themes and poor direction lead to an unsatisfying experience, in my opinion.
