I looked forward to seeing a mystery series based in British Columbia. It's portrayed as taking place in Gibsons, a well known BC town instead of the fictional one in the novels. The head of the local police detachment, Karl Alberg, is a staff sergeant in the RCMP which does the policing for BC.
I had hoped to spend time getting to know the characters and their interaction and the exploration of a mystery. Instead I was confronted with what should be RCMP dressed up as an American police department complete with upside down chevrons in their rank badges.
Instead of being able to get into the plot and characters I spent the entire episode thinking "WTF?" Why emphasise the BC setting by placing it in Gibsons and then pretend it's an American town?
