Spoilers****Spoilers**** Enjoyable, flashy, great 60’s music, but I felt the ending was tacked on after an audience preview session. It seemed as if the production needed a “horror” slant, so they added in a fire, stabbing, stupid violence to create “scares” thus turning an above average indie into a crappy below average disappointment. I felt the movie could have made a statement about misogyny, but allowing Sandie (Miss Collins) to try to kill the protagonist ruined that trope. Could have been a much better film. Sad.

Invasion follows several storylines in an apocalyptic vision of a War of the World type attack on humanity by alien life forms. It’s uneven, ultimately a pastiche of science fiction tropes, but watchable. The Navy Seal and the Middle Eastern mom are the most compelling characters and story lines, and why I will continue to watch. The wanna be anime version of a Japanese aerospace engineer saving the world (and her girlfriend) is simply annoying, the UK middle schoolers are cliched, and the midwestern sheriff is not seen after the first episode. Nonetheless I will watch the finale. Does not, however, deserve a second season.

Debris has a strong X Files vibe, but that’s not a bad thing. Production values, actors and storyline are solid, but perhaps the writing for individual episodes could improve. As an example, in the second episode, characters keep referring to duplicated humans as “clones”, when in fact they were replicated versions of a human being, down to clothing, etc. A clone would have been an embryo, right? That was annoying. Am being too picky? I think not. But otherwise a good show, and I will continue to watch until when or if it gets boring.
