I enjoyed this movie, definitely worth the watch. Cracknell’s is a contemporary and witty rendition of Jane Austin’s story. Dakota Johnson did a great job as Anne and I always love seeing Richard Grant. Cinematography, sets, and costumes are wonderful and the story of course, is captivating.
However, while the inner monolouge of Anne adds a modern and “Bridget Jones” feel to the movie, the diverse cast was very irritating. Not because of poor acting but because it is so ridiculously contradictory to Austins’ descriptions of characters let alone historical realism. Felt like there was an agenda the whole time and it deducted 2 stars from a 5 star film in almost every scene.
Not an accurate representation of the 19th century nor Jane Austin’s story.
A great film in every other way. If it had been set in modern day that would have been a non issue. But I was disappointed with the 2022 woke agenda.
