The martial artists in this movie are very legit... that's for sure. If you compare these fight scenes to the likes of Ip Man, then you might be a little disappointed. We all know the 1 vs. many fight scenes where you are always wondering, "Why don't the other 15 fighters just jump in?" Well, here it's super obvious that they are just standing around. The whole revenge plot revolves around a belt. I wish the belt had mystical powers. Did I hate the movie? Not really. I actually liked it. There are many movies like this with low budgets that just seem like a lot of fun to make. Gandala and Ong Bak come to mind. We have so many big budget productions with tons of special effects, that it can be overwhelming sometimes. Movies like Karate Girl with a dedicated cast and a little money is refreshing to watch.
