Anyone looking for a straight forward war movie with protagonists and antagonists will be disappointed. The antagonist in civil war is the tossing aside of our past for the sake of the present and at the expense of our future. This analogy is played out well in the interactions of the four main characters. The protagonist may be seen as what willingness we have as a country to band together to ensure freedom, only this would be enough to oppose conflict. Really enjoyed this movie and what it had to say about one possible future that only WE can prevent. I appreciated how the narrative stayed out of politics and you didn’t have anyone to cheer for or root on. All you can do is spectate and attempt to contemplate the ramifications of the scenario.
