I didn’t know what to expect when I first stepped into the theaters to view this film the week it was available in a nearby theater. I’d heard the general consensus, and that was that it was a pure masterpiece.
I was never one to enjoy having to read captions, but Minus One changed that. It has pure, deep emotion that is enough to send shivers down your spine. The lead performance was brilliant and emotional, and his story made me forget I was looking at subtext through the majority.
The visual effects were absolutely spectacular. Godzilla movies have always been hit or miss with me. I want to see what people saw in the 50s. A monster. And that’s exactly what I got. I didn’t see a giant CGI lizard given sympathy, but rather a living, breathing, fearless, relentless creature.
Minus One shows the modern age what Godzilla is meant to be. A symbol of fear.
