As long as you leave the old tv series, starring Raymond Burr, and the books by Gardner at the door, you're sure to like this new, gritty crime drama.
I think a lot of the negative comments on this series are from people who haven't been able to shake past associations. The acting is strong, the cinematography is evocative of the era, but it's the writing of the script that's outstanding. Not just the storyline, but the careful word choices, cadences in the sentences, and the use of language.
I look forward to each episode as it airs. It's a 10/10 for me, and that's rare!
