Worse than garbage: a complete waste of time and an obscene amount of money - and insulting to anyone with at least two brain cells. Anyone who 'loved' this drivel has either the critical faculties of a 10yo, or is the director - whose judgement should never be trusted again.
Normally, Hollywood reads the first 15 pages (if you’re lucky) then trashes your script: pass. That should have happened with this - but Hollywood does not work on ‘should’.
So the first 20 minutes (at maybe 40mil. production cost) give us a little girl, dressed in tinsel (as is everyone), winning a reality game show against grown women - just to deliver an empty platitude at the end: a pointless waste of time and money.
Then we get WW wasting all her powers, and all our time, to beat up two petty thieves in a shopping mall. Another pointless waste of time and money. This describes the whole debacle that is WW84.
Aside: WW84’s bad guy is even more PATHETIC than Loki, who is less threatening than a primary school teacher (I mean, Tom Hiddleston, seriously ?).
Whoever green-lit this is a rank amateur who should be fired on the spot.
With a production budget of 200mil and a marketing budget of maybe 100mil (so much less than pre-covid) this is a quarter-billion dollar streaming, steaming pile of UTTER $#*T.
Have we reached peak-superhero yet? Because it can't come soon enough. Hopefully - another big, final nail in the coffin of superhero movies.
And speaking of coffins - 20,000 children around the world die of hunger - Each. And. Every. Single. Day.
I have crewed on Hollywood movies for 25 years. I have had breakfast with studio executives where they’ve ordered three breakfasts for themselves, then pick across the plates.
Just one of those dollars (to each of those 20,000 children) would have meant they did not die of hunger yesterday. Or ANOTHER 20,000 today. Or ANOTHER 20,000 tomorrow :(
So … WW84?
Please ignore this trash and send Hollywood a clear message.
'Get your act together: your greed is not doing anyone any good.'
Hollywood has now jumped every shark there is.
And the next Thor will be worse than the previous one (apply this formula to all subsequent superhero movies).
The whole planet needs a totally new era, and totally new genre of movies. It's Hollywood's job to make it happen.
Sure, the last 20 years have been effortless for them: they just kept recycling the same garbage and raked in ever more dollars.
Time to step up and get smart. Take pitches from writers who don't keep recycling trash. There are brilliant money-making scripts out there. Even if the writer doesn't have an agent, it doesn't mean you'll be liable.
Face it, the only scripts plagiarised these days are about superheroes.
Wake up.
