I read this book at the age of 13 (the target audience was 8-12, so yeah maybe I've just outgrown the vibe idk), and left it halfway through because of the inconsistent pacing and semi-monotonous storyline (eventually forced myself to finish it). The illustrations are absolutely stunning, the writing and descriptions are vivid, and I believe the author's writing style has a lot of potential. The writing has been very persistent with the medieval setting, and the book has an overall nostalgic feeling to it. The pacing is a bit slow and (more than) a few chapters downright boring. Maybe it was just the genre or niche that wasn't my cup of tea, but in general, I think the plot had potential in ideology that wasn't executed so well throughout the book.
