Camera work: Filming was almost entirely in first person perspective and at first I thought it was another character that would soon come into shot. Poor dimension and environment perspective. Example of scenes that were very disappointing - in the first quarter of the movie they are on the bridge of death...they could have done quick cut scenes to actual footage from the disaster or edited fall out. In one scene a character said “can you imagine kids used to play here” No I can’t imagine it, this was another opportunity of doing a scene transition with timeline blending using vintage footage or even faint audio of children laughing instead of the character stating “can you imagine kids used to play here”.
The obliviousness of the cast is lost since you neglect to show the audience the true gravity of the disaster and you completely fumbled at prime opportunities.
Fundamentals: I want to experience the environment, if the characters are running don’t run after them with your camera shaking all about. If a character that is intimidating is walking around the car maybe a shot of his foot coming down slowly on the gravel and a shot from his perspective looking into the van. If a character is speaking Russian don’t be lazy in your subtitles and put “Speaks in Russian“ and then have a character ask “what did he say?” What is the point of this?
Audio: lack of audio layering/ music score was very disengaging. ☹️
