If you've come here to watch Robert B. Parker's beloved Spenser and Hawk characters, be ready for disappointment. If you've come here for a great detective story, see above. This is neither of those. The original Spenser books were awesome. The TV show, while a bit different, was also great. Robert Ulrich, in the titular role as Spenser, and Avery Brooks as Hawk, absolutely killed it (in a good way). I feel like Wahlberg phoned it in for this "performance", unless you want to consider his "smell the fart" acting style here as good. The other characters were unnecessarily over the top and, quite frankly, unbelievable, maybe with the exception of Winston Duke. Two stars because some of the accents were spot on, and I didn't immediately turn it off (though, I WAS hoping it would get better).
