This movie story(1970/1971) represents itself today to a vastly different generation than it originally did. In 2021 the 'motor head' audience (yes, I AM a good old Mopar Muscle man) may well MISS the TRUE depth of 'THEE vanishing POINT' which is easily lost as a result of the fierce interest NOW in the orig. 426 Hemi Dodge Challengers leaving many saying 'bang-boom, so what?!' Well folks, THAT IS SAD! As back then, many of us have had to 'stumble'-on in life during a time(s) of heavy loss while feeling stuck /overwhelmed, etc. For some of us a door may have slammed shut but we managed to get a window open, again!! Kowalski 'could no longer FIND windows' as HE FELT that everything good and possible FOR HIM had closed down forever and yet he harbored resentment towards no one---AHH,• BUT indeed HIMSELF!! WOAH, HE HAS JUST RECOGNIZED THAT HE HAS REACHED HIS/THE VANISHING POINT with but one last"window"of opportunity••●●!! Fortunately the 1996/97 re-make used a different foundation to build the same structure and for most of us, it worked, QUITE WELL. Re-watch the original but pay close attention to every [NON-car] issue••from the moment early on as the black Chrysler Imperial and the Challenger semi-vanish or blend into ONE and Kowalski's PAST begins to reveal his state of heart and mind as it has sadly now become.
