I have just watched the first three episodes of this drama. That is to say, the first two episodes until the death of the fair-haired lad who fell to his death as his two companions crossed the quad. Their comment (and that scene) - "To ss er thought he could fly" was a direct reference to the death of a student, at Oxford, on 2nd December 1992. For the record, the circumstances of his death, despite the media frenzy reportage of the event at the time, were nothing like those in the drama. I appreciate that creative writing draws on real events - but that pretty well ruined my day.
