I grew up with my mum being an avid fan of the street. I carried on that tradition when working as a nurse, it was always on. About 20 years ago, I realised that my life was being controlled by the television schedule. I stopped watching all of the soaps and to this day, might catch the last couple of minutes if I am waiting for the next programme to come on, but that is very rare. Funny thing is, it's usually the same cast members that I see a glimpse of. It happens with Eastenders as well. I don't watch Casualty or Holby City any more, occasionally listen to The Archers on BBC Radio 4. The thing is, I don't miss it. Is there life without soaps, the answer is yes. My addiction to the square box in the corner is no more, I have rediscovered books and daily use my kindle which sparks my imagination. So much so, I have just started to write my own book, being inspired by some of my favourite authors, my personal fave being Solomon Carter who writes books solely for Kindle. I would recommend his books with some amazing characters to you. On soaps though, I did used to enjoy Brookside and was a fan of Eldorado.
