Earth picks the most dysfunctional crew they can find and sends them on a mission to, possibly, save humanity. No psychological evaluations were apparently given to this crew before being sent out on such an important mission. How these individuals made it through any type of science or space academy, much less made it on this mission, is definitely something the writers didn’t think about. It also seems that someone watched the movie “Contact” before writing this. You keep thinking you’re about to see an alien and then it’s just an image of someone they know that they’re talking to. I don’t know why Netflix can’t write a show and leave out most of what they’re putting in nowadays. You can have a crew with some internal troubles, relationships and trials to overcome without making them seem like they were lucky to survive adolescence l. I think this could have been a really good series, but Netflix chose to show how woke they are and turned it into one big virtue signal.
