This book should never have been made into a movie. Please seriously consider watching anything else. If you aren't familiar with the book or haven't read it since you were younger (like I did) it features a protagonist who kidnaps a sex worker multiple times, expresses thoughts about wanting to kill her, physically assaults her, uses cult tactics to disorient and subdue her, supports a marriage of a 16 year old girl to a man who sexually assaults Angel which he (Michael) knows about and blames Angel for. Casual mention of slavery that only lightly criticizes the way the slaves were treated and having the audacity to say Michael's father "treated his people well".
Like there is so much wrong with this book and it should have been left in the ashheap of history. Please please please do not support this film.
