Painfully mediocre. Once King sets the scene you pretty much know how each plot point is going to go. But the atmosphere is lovely, I'd say the first half is best as it establishes the carny culture and describes the lingo. Once the "story" actually hits in everything goes as predicted like a corny haunted house ride at a gritty little sideshow.
