So disappointed in the Joker sequel. It was long and boring and nothing happens. There’s no rising action and barely a climax, and don’t even get me started on the shit ending and total lack of resolution. Did I mention it was a musical? Literally, they sang the whole way through the movie, which was bizarre. They could’ve done so much with these two characters. It could’ve been so dynamic and dark, but it fell so flat. It is such a missed opportunity. I kept waiting for the Joker to get out of prison so we could watch him actually do stuff and be devilishly delightful with Harley Quinn by his side, but that never happened. Even stranger, there were no villains in a comic book movie, which contributed to the lack of conflict in the story. Joaquin Phoenix’s acting was still brilliant as the joker, but the writers didn’t give him much to work with. And lady Gaga as Harley Quinn wasn’t really all that crazy. She just sang and dance. I had such high hopes for this movie. There are definitely too many “yes men” in Hollywood because nobody stood up and told this Director that the script was garbage. I’ve never seen a comic book movie where nothing happens. There’s no plot. No action. There’s no point. Just terrible. I only gave it a second star because the acting was good.
