The Dumbrella Academy. I started watching this superhero/magical being show with hopes of discovering a show that I could really sink my teeth into. You know, a fast-paced, gripping series with a compelling story line, great characters and edge of your seat thrills. This is not that show. The story is all over the place, the acting is on par with your high school drama class (exhibit A.- Cha Cha, a cardboard cutout of Mary J. Blige, exhibit B. - #4, a Jack Sparrow-esque retard that can interact with the dead) and the 'dramatic' scenes give me the groans. I feel like I gave this show a fair shake having watched three episodes. I even tried to find a character that would resonate with me. How about #1? He's a brooding, dull gorilla boy who's the leader at Hogwarts. Nope. #7? A teenage boy with no obvious powers. Gak...nope. I'm changing the channel for good. This show is a pile of #2.

I went into this movie with an open mind. In fairly short order I could smell b.s. written all over it. The 'paranormal investigator' Zak Bagans tries to spin the story of this house into something really scary but he succeeds only in making it feel contrived and phony. What a crock. Don't waste your time watching this.

I enjoyed this movie. It was a little slow at times (not the 'slow burn' type) but the movie kept me compelled to continue watching. This unique story involves 3 regular Joes who get wrapped in a nasty situation. These fellas are manning a lighthouse on an island off the coast of Great Britain when a dead guy washes ashore with his wrecked little boat and a mysterious chest. Without giving anything away, there is some intrigue surrounding the contents of the locked chest. A pair of shady looking sailors show up looking for their pal and that chest. "Chest? What chest?" The new guys don't like that answer and things go downhill from there. If you're wondering, yes, there will be blood. Good movie.
