What should have been a epic continuation, gives you a bitter taste of defeat.
Making the map noticeably smaller in width and depth, and taking away the overall freedom of the first game was a terrible move. Not only do you not really need to build a base more then once, you have no need to go back to areas once done, its simply go here get this and go, no real exploration required or even fear, there are entire biomes you can even miss so again seems pointless to put them in.
I like some of the tunnels but again the first one was much better at this making the biomes feel more deliberate (mushroom biome from first one or lost river) and a lot of the biomes in this game make little to sense for an artic game. Never have I seen lily pads in any artic environment, and i feel this would have made a great addition to the first along with the twisting bridges but here we are.
The addition of more land i feel was the second to worse idea in the game, i can understand why but it was complete waste of time, if they had underwater tunnels with air pockets it would be better but no, you are stuck trudging through snow as the land vehicle (not going to spoil it) is all but unusable and very frustrating to use, i built it, left it and walked around was quicker and easier.
The biggest gripe I've got though is there not being a sea moth or cyclops, i loved both of these and these where as iconic as the prawn suit. Having removed both i feel let down.
So overall , story is great, really enjoyed it. But the environment, the vehicles, the points of interest, more land and the loss of favourite creatures means i'll play it once and never play it again.
